In November 2015, Hyong Yi, an assistant city manager, walked around uptown Charlotte, passing out love notes in honor of his late wife, Catherine. The notes chronicled Hyong and Catherine's life together, from their first meeting, to dating, marriage, children, and her death. Within a few days, the story went viral worldwide, and was covered by NBC and ABC Nightly News, Good Morning America, and The Today Show.  Surprised by the magnitude of interest, Yi realized that the notes had greater purpose, and he commissioned 17 artists to illustrate his three-line poems. The result is this book, which includes artwork in watercolor, pen and ink, mosaic, collage, traditional paintings, and digital compositions.
